"I pray to God that all the corporations I established have continuity, are useful to the country by creating job opportunities to people, pay its taxes to the goverment, and are a model for the next generations."

ELGINKAN FOUNDATION was established by the ELGINKAN Family which created the E.C.A brand.

ECA is made up of the initials of three names, Ekrem, Cahit, and Ahmet, while ELGINKAN is the surname of the family. The family is composed of four members: Mr. Ahmet Elginkan and Mrs. Ümmehan Elginkan, and their two sons, Mr. Ekrem Elginkan and Mr. Cahit Elginkan. The family is from Manisa.

In 1954, when all the members of the Elginkan Family were alive, they decided to establish a foundation, to immortalize the industrial enterprises they planned to found and realize their ambition of performing benevolent works for our country and people through this foundation.

This decision taken by the Elginkan Family in 1954 was put into effect in 1985 by the honorable elders of the family, the deceased Mrs. Ümmehan ELGİNKAN and the deceased H. Ekrem ELGİNKAN, through the 8 companies of the Elginkan Group and the Elginkan Foundation was thus registered.

Objectives of the Foundation

To research, support, preserve, and present our cultural values, our customs and moral values which have heightened us throughout our history, and our Turkish language,
To encourage scientific, technological, and educational activities,
To establish and run schools and educational institutions in order to contribute to the development of qualified labor force needed by the national industry and thus to the educational efforts to increase the employment opportunities in the country.
A protocol was signed on 18 June 2003 between the Istanbul Technical University (İTÜ) Rectorate and the Elginkan Foundation, specifying the allocation of a land within the university territory and the construction and donation of a high school building by the Elginkan Foundation to the university. According to this protocol, this high school will be built next to the existing kindergarten and elementary school buildings within the İTÜ Ayazağa campus; will operate as private high school, and award Ekrem Elginkan scholarships to some talented students with needs.
